Description
Go On, Brother Lawrence, is a wood engraving carved and printed from boxwood by hand on Zerkall cotton rag paper. Brother Lawrence was a poor and humble “barefoot” Carmelite monk of the early 17th century. He is well known today from the book of his letters and recorded conversations entitled “The Practice of the Presence of God”. As a monk he was a dishwasher and cook in the monastery kitchen and then when his wounded legs became too painful for that work, he worked repairing the simple sandals that the brothers of his order wore. In this and all his work and mundane aspects of life Brother Lawrence sought and ultimately found the presence of God.
The print is 3.5″ x 4.25″ and the paper is 5″ x 6″
